TIME TO SAY GOODBYE – COLLABRO ANNOUNCES A FAREWELL TOUR.  

The nation’s favourite Britain’s Got Talent winners, Collabro will hit the road this December to celebrate eight successful years!

Following eight triumphant years, Collabro, the world’s most popular musical theatre vocal group, have announced their farewell tour. Michael Auger, Jamie Lambert, Matthew Pagan and Thomas J. Redgrave invite their fans across the country to come along and celebrate with them this winter. 

Collabro – The Farewell Tour will open on Tuesday 29^th November 2022 at Sheffield City Hall before heading to Carlisle, Plymouth, Newcastle, Manchester, Blackpool, Edinburgh, London, Birmingham, Bath.

Collabro – The Farewell Tour will close on Friday 16^th December 2022 at Portsmouth Guildhall.

David Hunter will star as Henry and Joanna Woodward as Clare and in the world premiere of The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical, based on the best-selling novel by Audrey Niffenegger and the New Line Cinema film screenplay by Bruce Joel Rubin.  The new musical will premiere at Storyhouse in Chester from 30 September to 15 October 2022.  The two-week season will precede a West End transfer, to be announced at a later date.

Joanna Woodward most recently understudied and played Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman: The Musical (Piccadilly Theatre & Savoy Theatre).  Her other theatre credits include: Emily in Zombies: The Musical and Eulpha Miziam in Confessions (The Other Palace); Mary in The Life (Southwark Playhouse); understudied and played Carole King in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical (Aldwych Theatre); Margaret in Fings Ain’t Wot They Used T’Be (Theatre Royal Stratford East); understudied Beth/Meg/KT in Merrily We Roll Along (Menier Chocolate Factory and Harold Pinter Theatre); Tinker Bell in Lost Boy (Finborough Theatre and Charing Cross Theatre); Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors(Kilworth House Theatre).

Henry and Clare’s love story is like no other and yet like all others; they meet, flirt, fight, love, marry… but all out of order.  Henry is often and uncontrollably ripped out of time, because he suffers from a rare condition where his genetic clock periodically resets, pulling him into his past or future, vanishing before one’s eyes, never knowing where or when he’s going next.  Except he knows he’ll always come back to Clare, at some point in time, dreaming of her time-travelling husband. 

The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical weaves a heart-breaking and soaring original musical score by multi Grammy Award-winning composers Joss Stone and Dave Stewart with one of the most beloved novels of the last 50 years.  All couples ask how to truly know one another, to trust, to commit, to build a family, to work at something bigger than ourselves.  Not all of us are time travellers.  How do you love across time?

With a book by Lauren Gunderson, original music and lyrics by Joss Stone and Dave Stewart, additional music by Nick Finlow and additional lyrics by Kait Kerrigan, the production will be directed by Bill Buckhurst and designed by Anna Fleischle, with choreography by Shelley Maxwell, lighting design by Lucy Carter, illusions by Chris Fisher, video design by Andrzej Goulding, sound design by Richard Brooker, musical supervision & arrangement by Nick Finlow and orchestrations by Bryan Crook.  Casting will be by Grindrod Burton Casting.  It will be produced by Colin Ingram for InTheatre Productions, Gavin Kalin Productions, Teresa Tsai and Crossroads Live, by special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures.

In June 2019 THE WOMAN IN BLACK celebrated its 30^th Anniversary in London’s West End with a special gala performance.

Stephen Mallatratt’s adaptation of Susan Hill’s best-selling novel tells the story of a lawyer obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over his family by the spectre of a Woman in Black. He engages a young actor to help him tell his story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul. It begins innocently enough, but as they delve further into his darkest memories, they find themselves caught up in a world of eerie marshes and moaning winds. The borders between make-believe and reality begin to blur and the flesh begins creep.

THE WOMAN IN BLACK is directed by Robin Herford, with designs by Michael Holt and lighting by Kevin Sleep.

GERMAN CORNEJO’S TANGO AFTER DARK

RETURNS TO LONDON’S PEACOCK THEATRE

World Tango Champion German Cornejo returns with his superb dance company, including his long-term dance partner and collaborator Gisela Galeassi, to perform the critically acclaimed Tango After Dark at Peacock Theatre in London’s West End from 11 to 22 October.  Accompanied by two sensational singers and seven musicians playing the great tango composer Astor Piazzolla’s Nuevo Tango, these ten world-class Argentinian dancers will keep your passion for tango burning deep into the night.

Tango After Dark is the ultimate theatrical tango experience straight from Argentina, that merges the intoxicating music of the great Argentine tango composer Astor Piazzolla, jaw-dropping choreography, and breath-taking moves, to reveal tango in its most authentic but sophisticated form.  As Argentina’s most popular dance, world-renowned for its seductive powers, this mesmerising show combines the sensuous side of tango with the rawness and quick-fire precision of this dance, taking this passionate dancing language to the limit, to create a unique and exhilarating performance.

With multiple sold-out performances across the globe, German Cornejo’s spectacular choreography has captivated audiences worldwide for more than 10 years, through its unique mix of tradition and sophistication of tango for the 21st century.

The five couples dancing in Tango After Dark at Peacock Theatre, coming directly from Buenos Aires, will be German Cornejo & Gisela Galeassi, Mariano Balois & Micaela Spina, Ezequiel Lopez & Camila Alegre, Juan Malizia & Manuela Rossi and Nicolas Schell & Noelia Pizzo.  The two singers will be Antonela Cirillo and Jesus Hidalgo.

Choreographed by Cornejo, the individual couples in the company choreograph their own solos with Cornejo refining the steps, as is traditional in the world of Argentine tango, allowing the couples creative freedom to showcase their individual styles.  Cornejo and his dance partner, Galeassi, are World Tango Champions and are widely known for their performances with Jennifer Lopez and Marc Antony.

Tango After Dark is directed and choreographed by German Cornejo with assistant choreographer Gisela Galeassi, sound design by Gaston Briski and musical direction by Diego Ramos.  Tango After Dark is produced at Peacock Theatre by Sandra Castell Garcia.

The full cast is announced today for the 40^th Anniversary tour of Michael Frayn’s multi award-winning farce, Noises Off, which will open at Theatre Royal Bath from 22 September 2022, before heading onto Richmond, Brighton and Cambridge.

Joining the previously announced Felicity Kendal (The Good Life, Relatively Speaking and Hay Fever) as Dotty Otley will be stage and screen actors Tracy-Ann Oberman (EastEnders, Friday Night Dinner and Edmond) as Belinda Blair and Matthew Kelly (The Dresser, Waiting For Godot, as well as hosting Stars In Their Eyes and You Bet!) as Selsdon Mowbray.

One of the greatest British comedies ever written, Noises Offwill be directed by Lindsay Posner (God of Carnage, Hay Fever, Stones in his Pockets)

Michael Frayn’s celebrated play serves up a riotous double bill – a play within a play. Hurtling along at breakneck speed, Noises Offfollows the on and off-stage antics of a touring theatre company as they stumble their way through the fictional farce, Nothing On. From the shambolic final rehearsals before opening night in Weston-super-Mare, to a disastrous matinee in Ashton-Under-Lyme seen entirely, and hilariously silently, from backstage, before we share their final, brilliantly catastrophic performance in Stockton-on-Tees.

After watching from the wings a production of his 1970 farce The Two of Us with Richard Briers and Lynn Redgrave and noting that the goings on behind the scenes were funnier than out front, Michael Frayn wrote Noises Off. The original production opened in London in 1982 before becoming a worldwide hit. A feature film was made of Noises Off in 1992.

Noises Off is written by Michael Frayn. HAMPSTEAD THEATRE ANNOUNCES THE FULL CAST AND CREATIVE TEAMS FOR THE WORLD PREMIERES OF RICHARD EYRE’S THE SNAIL HOUSE AND GEORGINA BURNS’ RAVENSCOURT

Hampstead Theatre is delighted to announce the full cast and creative teams for The Snail House and Ravenscourtwhich open this September.

The world premiere of The Snail House will feature Amanda Bright (In From the Cold, Netflix; Macbeth, Shakespeare Globe), Raphel Famotibe (Rocks, Fable Pictures; Wonder Boy, Bristol Old Vic), Vincent Franklin (Bodyguard, BBC; Mary Stuart, Almeida Theatre), Grace Hogg-Robinson (Flesh and Blood, ITV; The Ocean at the End of the Lane; National Theatre/Duke of York’s), Megan McDonnell (Normal People, BBC; The Playboy Of The Western World, Lyric Theatre), Eva Pope (Waterloo Road, BBC; Still Alice, UK Tour) and Patrick Walshe McBride (Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators, BBC; Peer Gynt, Barbican).

The Snail House, written and directed by Richard Eyre, will run from 7 September until 15 October.  Former Artistic Director of the National Theatre and, writer and regular adaptor of other people’s work for the stage, The Snail House is Eyre’s first completely original play.  He previously premiered Jennifer Dawson’s novel The Ha Ha at Hampstead Theatre Club in 1968.

Eyre is joined by designer, Tim Hatley; associate designer, Ross Edwards; lighting designer, Hugh Vanstone; lighting associate and programmer, Sam Waddington; sound designer, John Leonard; associate sound designer, Ali Taie;casting director, Ginny Schiller CDG and assistant director, Jessica Mensah.

Sir Neil Marriot, familiar from TV as a government medical advisor, is hosting his own lavish birthday party.  But, amidst the oak panelling and the champagne his family are at one another’s throats – and there’s something deeply unsettling about one of the caterers …  

Richard Eyre, Director of The Snail House, said:

“Apart from versions of existing plays in foreign languages, I haven’t written and directed a play of mine since 1968 when my adaptation of Jennifer Dawson’s novel, The Ha Ha, was on at what was then the Hampstead Theatre Club.  I am very nervous and very excited to be directing my first original play at almost the same location.”

In the theatre’s Downstairs space, Ravenscourt by Georgina Burns, directed by Hampstead Theatre’s Associate Director, Tessa Walker, will run from 23 September until 29 October.  Burns is an alumnus of Hampstead Theatre’s INSPIRE course for emerging playwrights and Ravenscourt is her first produced full-length play.  

The world premiere of Ravenscourt will feature Josef Davies (1917, Dreamworks; Hangmen, Royal Court/Wyndham’s), Jon Foster (The Salisbury Poisonings, BBC; Every Day I Make Greatness Happen; Hampstead Theatre), Andrea Hall (Honour, ITV; Shook, Southwark Playhouse) and Lizzy Watts (The Durrells, ITV; Either, Hampstead Theatre).

Walker is joined by designer, Debbie Duru; lighting designer, Matt Haskins; sound designer Anna Short; fight director Philip d’Orléans; movement director, Rebecca Wield and assistant director, Sam Edmunds.

Lydia is a mental-health professional determined to make a difference. But as she settles into her new job at Ravenscourt she starts to realise how high the odds are stacked against real change. Maybe the cynics are right: the system is broken and nobody cares…

Macbeth is one of Shakespeare’s most famous works and arguably, the greatest play ever written.  It’s a dramatic epic about greed, ambition and the heights and depths of the human condition.  Now, imagine it being performed by a rotating cast, one of who is completely inebriated?   That is the very essence of Sh!t-faced Shakespeare® as they prepare to the take their unique interpretation of Macbeth on a national tour this autumn. 

Sh!t-faced Shakespeare® presents: Macbeth is aside-splitting combination of a faithful adaptation of this Shakespearean classic, complete with one worse-for-wear cast member.Every night before the show, an actor is given four hours to “wet the whistle” by consuming as much alcohol as they can get their hands on.  This is classical theatre as it was always meant to be seen; with a gin in one hand, a cup of wine in the other and a flagon of ale lined up next.

Featuring wasted witches, boozy best friends, hammered hell-hounds, unhinged wives and enough crapulous kings to give Game of Thrones a run for its money, this is Shakespearean theatre as you’ve never experienced it before…  What could possibly go wrong?

Northern Ballet brings classic fairy tale to life

Coming to Sheffield Lyceum Theatre, Belfast Grand Opera House, Southampton Mayflower & Newcastle Theatre Royal  

Northern Ballet is bringing Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale to life this autumn as it tours The Little Mermaid to theatres across the UK.

Telling the story of a young mermaid who is willing to give up everything she knows in the search for love, the ballet premièred to critical acclaim in 2017 and has become a favourite amongst audiences.

The Little Mermaid is choreographed and directed by the Company’s former Artistic Director David Nixon CBE whose creations include hits like Cinderella, The Great Gatsby and Beauty & the Beast. 

The ballet will immerse audiences in the mystical underwater world of Andersen’s famous fable with designs by Kimie Nakano (sets), Tim Mitchell (lighting) and David Nixon CBE (costumes). The production also features an original score by composer Sally Beamish.

 ‘The Little Mermaid is an enchanting and relevant story. The fantastical underwater world of the mermaids evokes beautiful imagery that lends itself so well to ballet.  

It has become one of our most beloved productions and I’m delighted Northern Ballet is bringing it back to the stage this autumn.’

NEW WIMBLEDON THEATRE MAKE FIRST CASTING ANNOUNCEMENT

FOR SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS

New Wimbledon Theatre have today [Friday 12 August] announced the first of the cast for their magical Christmas pantomime, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs.

With an all-star cast including X Factor semi-finalist, Loose Woman, actress and television personality Brenda Edwards; singer, TV actor and musical theatre star Lee Mead; legendary panto Dame and TV presenter Matthew Kelly and TikTok sensation Hannah Lowther Wimbledon audiences are in for a panto treat this Christmas.

Joining the cast as The Spirit of Pantomime will be Brenda Edwards. Brenda’s professional career started when she was the last woman standing in the 2005 season of The X Factor. Since The X Factor Brenda has gone on to take the musical theatre world by storm, playing roles in Chicago, We Will Rock You, Carousel and Hairspray. Brenda has also been a popular face on TV as a regular on ITV’s daytime panel show Loose Women and BBC’s Songs of Praise.

Best-known for winning the BBC talent show Any Dream Will Do, Lee Mead won the title role in the West End revival of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to rave reviews. Since then, Lee has had lead roles in Wicked and Legally Blonde in the West End, released several solo albums and toured extensively. From 2014 to 2016 Lee starred as Ben “Lofty” Chiltern in Casualty, which saw him nominated for various national Best Newcomer television awards, a role he reprised on the popular BBC spin-off series, Holby City. In 2021 Lee celebrated 20 years of his career at The London Palladium, before embarking on a UK tour of his fifth album. 2022 sees Lee play Billy Flynn in the hit musical Chicago. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will see Lee swap the medical gowns for something more regal in the role of The Prince.

Matthew Kelly will play Snow White’s Nurse and is best known for being a presenter on ITV’s Stars in their Eyes, since then Matthew has gone on to become a star of stage and screen and starred in many pantomimes across the country. Matthew’s previous television work includes ITV’s award-winning thriller Cold Blood, Benidorm, Casualty and Heartbeat. His theatre credits include the original Stanley in Funny Peculiar – a role he created at the Liverpool Everyman, Waiting For Godot with Ian McKellen and Roger Rees and Lennie in Of Mice and Men at the Savoy Theatre for which his performance won him an Olivier Award for Best Actor. Matthew has recently played Sir in the UK tour of The Dresser opposite Julian Clary.

Musical Theatre sensation Hannah Lowther will play the title role of Snow White. Hannah’s viral musical theatre parody videos took social media by storm, becoming a TikTok-hit in the first lockdown. Hannah recently appeared in Heathers the Musical (The Other Palace) and won three West End Wilma Awards for her performance, she has also appeared in Millennials (The Other Palace) and Kinky Boots–The Musical in Concert (Theatre Royal Drury Lane).

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is produced by Crossroads Pantomimes, the World’s biggest pantomime producer whose Chief Executive Michael Harrison said: “Today we’re proud to have announced the first of the all-star cast to appear in our New Wimbledon Theatre pantomime. As well as assembling a sensational cast, we’re already working on creating a Christmas treat packed with spectacular special effects and comedy for the whole family to enjoy.”
