Wimbledon brings you the well known story from the book series of Percy Jackson written by Rick Riordan, made into a tv series and now a broadway show directed by Lizzi Gee.

It tells the story of a young teenage boy Percy Jackson (Vasco Emauz) who throughout his life has found it difficult to fit in, so far being expelled from a number of schools and generally just struggling to find his way in life. Things begin to take a massive turn, when he is sent of to a half-blood camp only to discover that he is infact a demigod and that his father is actually Poseidon! This is all discovered whilst being on a school trip which goes from good to bad within no time at all. Leading him to fighting against monsters such as mythical creatures blowing his mind and questioning his whole life!

Percy Jackson is then accused of stealing Zeus’s lightning bolt, which then sends him on a quest across the United States with two of his friends Annabeth (Kayna Montecillo) a demigod of Athena, and Grover (Cahir O’Neill) a Satyr, to prevent a war happening amongst the Gods.

Along their journey they face a series of trials that involve encounters with mythical creatures and challenges that they must navigate as a team and overcome, showing personal growth and a bond that will become unforgettable!

This was an exceptional show to watch. There was a strong connection between all actors on stage, that was definitely clear to see! The choreography also done by Lizzi Gee was outstanding and it was amazing to see so much talent on one stage. I also feel that the vocals need a mention as all actors just smashed it alongside some great songs. The whole performance I thought was just exceptional. The props were simple but very effective alongside the lighting just gave it that wow factor!

I took my 13 years old daughter to see this and she had a blast smiling from start to finish. I would definitely recommend this show for a family day out, it definitely didn’t disappoint!
