Stephen Sondheim’s close friends Martin Milnes and Peter E. Jones today released the trailer for their forthcoming podcast Loving You: The Untold Sondheim (listen: Apple, Spotify and Amazon). The unprecedented personal tribute is an intimate, affectionate and candid portrait of the man behind the myth; each episode exploring different aspects of Sondheim’s life, personality and private passions.
The trailer features podcast guests Dame Julie Andrews, Mia Farrow, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ronan Farrow, Patti LuPone and Maria Friedman. Also featured is BAFTA-winning actor Alistair McGowan, portraying Sondheim in his personal emails to Martin Milnes.
In addition, the series features the previously announced Jamie Bernstein, Dame Judi Dench, Adam Guettel, John Kander, James Lapine, Maltby & Shire, Bernadette Peters, Jonathan Tunick, John Weidman and Maury Yeston. Family memories are recalled by Stephen’s half-brother, Walter E. Sondheim.
Today, newly announced guests are original Sondheim cast members Christine Baranski(Sunday In The Park With George and Assassins workshops); Len Cariou (Tony Winner, Sweeney Todd); Laurence Guittard (Tony Nominee, A Little Night Music); Donna McKechnie(Company); Julia McKenzie (Olivier Award Winner, Sweeney Todd); Millicent Martin (Tony Nominee Side By Side By Sondheim); Ann Morrison(Merrily We Roll Along) and Kurt Peterson(Follies andProducer of Sondheim: A Musical Tribute).
Alongside Alistair McGowan as Sondheim, Young Steve is played by Daniel Cane(Come From Away) and Young Peter Jones by Eddie Andrews(Titanic The Musical). Sondheim’s encounters with prickly next-door-neighbor Katharine Hepburn are immortalized by Charlotte Page(Follies, Opéra de Toulon).

Loving You: The Untold Sondheim is written, devised, directed and co-produced by Martin Milnes. Co-producer Peter E. Jones composed the podcast’s original score. Executive Producer is Jason Caffreyof Creative Kin Ltd.
The first two podcast episodes will be released on Thursday 5 March 2026, with the next two on Thursday 12 March, and thereafter one episode released per week.
The podcast will be available on all streaming platforms, including Apple, Spotify and Amazon.
