Peter Pan takes us through a wonderful adventure completely different from anything we’ve ever seen. It’s a brand-new Peter Pan, keeping the same spirit and message, which is the conflict and acceptance of growing up while wanting to stay young forever, but presented in a completely new version.

This pantomime is at its best level, bringing humor, audience participation, famous songs with some different lyrics, dance, puppets, and a colorful and joyful vibe throughout the play that entertains both children and adults.

There is a constant change of sets, made with detail and care and designed by Emily Bestow.

While it has good performances in general, the real star of the show is Captain Hook, played by the legendary Anthony Spargo (Horrible Histories, Barmy Britain, Garrick Theatre; Dick Whittington and His Cat, Greenwich Theatre). Performing in his twelfth Greenwich Theatre pantomime and nominated for Best Villain at the UK Theatre Pantomime Awards this year, he shows his acting experience on stage, giving an amazingly funny performance with quick jokes and making the audience laugh for most of the show.

Another actor who stands out and is very confident on stage is Louise Cielecki, who plays Smee. Her body movements, voice and expressions — both when she delivers her lines and when she sings — show that she is a very talented, well-trained, and experienced actor, just like Anthony Spargo.

The show is fun and a wonderful experience for the whole family.

The audience is very engaged and contributes to this special and joyful atmosphere that the music, the set, the performers, the costumes, and the lighting create during the show.

Some famous films are referenced in the show at different times, such as Star Wars and Indiana Jones, making it a very different and creative pantomime that will bring back memories for adults who are fans of those films.

There are lovely scenes, such as when Wendy and Peter Pan sing while in a harness, showing great backgrounds and movements, and when Peter Pan sings “Come with me” which is also a special moment.

Another great scene is when Wendy and Peter Pan drive a car as if they were on the road in an old video game, designed by the very talented Hannah Schlenker.

There are various highlights, and it’s a show worth seeing.

A wonderful treat for the whole family- a pantomime at its best.
