Liam Brennan will play ‘Inspector Goole’, Christine Kavanagh ‘Mrs Birling’, Jeffrey Harmer ‘Mr Birling’, Simon Cotton ‘Gerald Croft’, Evlyne Oyedokun ‘Sheila Birling’, George Rowlands ‘Eric Birling’ and Frances Campbell ‘Edna’. The cast is completed by Philip Stewart, Beth Tuckey, Maceo Cortezz and Rue Blenkinsop.

Liam Brennan returns to an Inspector Calls having played the role of Inspector Goole during previous UK tours. His other theatre credits include Richard III and Twelfth Night at Shakespeare’s Globe, and Diary of a Madman at The Gate, for which he was awarded Best Actor at the Edinburgh Festival in 2016.

Christine Kavanagh’s National Theatre credits include Man and Superman and Albert Speer and the National Theatre UK Tour of Hedda Gabler. Her West End credits include The Importance of Being Earnest at the Harold Pinter Theatre. With the Royal Shakespeare Company Christine has performed Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing. Her other credits include A Doll’s House, Travesties, She Stoops to Conquer and The Rivals.

Jeff Harmer’s credits include playing Berrard in the national tour of Bird Song. His other theatre credits include Fox on The Fairway, Out Of Order, Donkey’s Years, Romeo & Juliet and As You Like It.

Simon Cotton is probably best known for his role as Hugh Bryant on ITV’s Emmerdale, his other television credits include NBC’s Hanna, Murder Maps and Doctors. His theatrical credits include A Clockwork Orange at the Park Theatre. On film he has been seen in The Rise of the Krays and The Fall of the Krays, The Unseen and Undercover Hooligan.

Evlyne Oyedokun’s theatrical credits including Key Workers Cycle at the Almeida, Perspective – New Views at the National Theatre, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead at the Old Vic and The Cherry Orchard at Nottingham Playhouse.

George Rowlands’ theatre credits include Parliament Square at The Unicorn Theatre, The Boy With The Bee Jar at The Hope Theatre and Macbeth with Quarter Too Ensemble.

Frances Campbell’s theatrical career includes JB Priestley’s Music at Night, Blithe Spirit, Hedda Gabler, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and Hobson’s Choice. As a performer of historical dance, Frances has appeared with Commedia Dell Arte.

In the 30-years since its first performance at the National Theatre in 1992, Stephen Daldry’s production of An Inspector Calls has won a total of 19 major awards, including four Tony Awards and three Olivier Awards, and has played to more than 5 million theatregoers worldwide. An Inspector Calls is the most internationally-lauded production in the National Theatre’s history.

JB Priestley’s brilliantly constructed masterpiece powerfully dramatises the dangers of casual capitalism’s cruelty, complacency and hypocrisy. Stephen Daldry’s epic production highlights the play’s enduring relevance.

Written at the end of the Second World War and set before the First, An Inspector Calls is a compelling and haunting thriller. The story begins when the mysterious Inspector Goole calls unexpectedly on the prosperous Birling family home. Their peaceful family dinner party is shattered by his investigations into the death of a young woman.

Now world-renowned as one of Britain’s leading theatre and film directors, Stephen Daldry has received Academy Award nominations for his films The Reader, The Hours, Billy Elliot and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. His recent West End theatre work includes David Hare’s Skylight at the Wyndham’s Theatre and Peter Morgan’s The Audience at the Apollo Theatre. His multi award-winning production of Billy Elliot The Musical ran for 11 incredible years at the Victoria Palace before embarking on a national tour.

Featuring Ian MacNeil’s ingenious designs, music by Oscar-winning composer Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love) and atmospheric lighting by Rick Fisher, this landmark production is guaranteed to have old fans rushing back and new theatregoers being swept away into the mysterious world of Inspector Goole.

AN INSPECTOR CALLS is directed by the world-renowned theatre and film director Stephen Daldry. Stephen’s many theatre credits include The Audience, Skylight and Billy Elliot The Musical. His film credits include The Hours, The Reader and Billy Elliot, all of which earned him Academy Award nominations for Best Director. Most recently he has directed several episodes of the Netflix smash hit series The Crown, for which he is also Producer.

The Hope Theatre announces autumn season,
including UK professional premiere of Jen
Silverman’s The Moors
September – November 2022

The Hope Theatre has announced its 2022 autumn season. Brimming with premieres, new writing and originality, the programme cements The Hope Theatre’s position as a hub for innovation and contemporary theatre-making. The season includes a UK professional premiere of award-winning American playwright Jen Silverman’s (A Play in 5 Betties, Southwark Playhouse) dark comedy The Moors.

A period drama with one foot firmly in the present, The Moors (11th October – 5th November) is an irreverent Gothic story, inspired by the letters of Charlotte Brontë, about isolation, ambition and women taking matters into their own hands. A queer thriller and macabre comedy, The Moors is set within a harsh and powerful landscape. The in-house production will be directed by The Hope Theatre’s artistic director Phil Bartlett.

The autumn season also includes the world-premiere of Lydia Sabatini’s play The Light Trail (8th – 26th November). Shortlisted for the Paines Plough Women’s Prize last year, it follows teenagers Jas and Ellie, who meet playing football and embark on a relationship that is underscored by Jas’s schizophrenia and the impact that has on the young women and their
families.

Oh! Suburbia! (20th September – 1 st October) returns to the Hope Theatre this autumn,
following a successful summer run that was cut short due to COVID. A one-man avant-garde theatrical revue from award-winning performer, musician and raconteur Bob Karper, ‘Oh! Suburbia! picked up a Standing Ovation nomination from London Pub Theatres back in June, who called the show ‘a bonkers delight’. This unique interrogation of suburban life is packed full of songs and features an audio cast of UK seniors.

Artistic director Phil Bartlett comments, the true highlight of my job remains getting to meet so many innovative and inspiring theatre-makers and seeing how they transform our humble blackbox with their words and bodies and ideas. Jen Silverman is one of the sharpest and most exciting playwrights writing today, and I’m ecstatic to be staging the UK professional premiere of The Moors at the Hope this October. With a whip-smart and very funny script, unforgettable characters, and a darkly demented plot, I can think of no better way to spend an autumn evening than heading on up to the moors – just beware the ravenous crows!

The Hope Theatre’s ever-popular two-night Sunday-Monday runs continue this autumn, providing companies with the opportunity to share work professionally in a low-risk environment. Productions include: Truly, Madly, Baldy (4th – 5th September) which chronicles how one woman dealt with having alopecia through original music and story-telling; Sold By Mama (11th – 12th September) a riveting snapshot of Los Angeles’ hidden sex-trafficking subculture; Faustine (30th – 31st October), a feminist cautionary tale which promises that ‘spirits will rise, devils will dance, and bras will burn’; and Parma Violets (13th – 14th November) a nuanced examination of the blossoming inter-cultural relationship between two young people, one of whom is from a Traveller community.

FISHERMAN’S FRIENDS: THE MUSICAL is based on the true story of the Cornish singing sensations, Fisherman’s Friends, and the hit 2019 film about their life.  When a group of Cornish fishermen came together to sing the traditional working songs they’d sung for generations, they hoped to raise a few quid for charity.  Nobody, least of all the fishermen, expected their story to end on the Pyramid stage of Glastonbury.  Packed with sea shanties, FISHERMAN’S FRIENDS is a feelgood voyage about friendship, community and music.

BILL WARD LEADS FINAL CASTING FOR

ORIGINAL NEW BRITISH MUSICAL

Multi-award winning actor Bill Ward (Coronation Street; Emmerdale), will be joining the cast of the brand new musical, Are You As Nervous As I Am?, one of the first original British musicals coming out after lockdown.

Bill will be playing the role of Bob, the charismatic band leader who hides a darker side. Bill joins the previously announced Katie Elin-Salt in the role of Peggy, the young and impressionable girl with a passion for singing, and Emma Thornett as Janet, the runaway sister in search of a more honest life.

FAMILY BEFORE FAME

The story follows a journey of two sisters – Peggy and Janet – in their search for happiness. Fighting against their mother’s dysfunctional behaviour, they are forced apart to pursue lives away from their home in Wales.

Set against the background of a century in flux, when the sisters reconnect, they are gradually empowered to positively transform their lives

The world premiere of Are You As Nervous As I Am? takes place at Greenwich Theatre from 01 – 23 October 2022.

Are You As Nervous As I Am? is a strong female-driven story of empowerment: touching on disability, sexuality, abuse and race, with memorable characters and powerful original songs.

HEATHERS THE MUSICAL EXTENDS TO 19 FEBRUARY 2023 PLUS A SING-A-LONG SPECIAL PERFORMANCE ANNOUNCED

The Other Palace is pleased to announce that following the world premiere of the new musical Millennials written and composed by Elliot Clay, the show will extend for a further 4 weeks of performances over the summer, due to finish on Sunday 4 September 2022.

Millennials has received acclaim from audiences and critics alike in its first weeks of performances, with the chance to experience these new songs in an immersive and exciting environment.

Millennials turns up the microphone on the lives, the losses, and the frustrations of young people in the modern world.  A generation that is so often defined by tabloid headlines, tweets and, of course, avocados, has picked up the mic and transported us inside their extraordinarily ordinary lives.

New casting to be announced.

Millennials is produced by The Other Palace, written and composed by Elliot Clay, with direction by Hannah Benson. Arrangements, sound production and musical supervision by Auburn Jam and choreography by Tinovimbanashe Sibanda, with design and lighting design from Andrew Exeter and costume styling by Rory Mcnerney.

With summer break in full flow, it’s time to think about the next school year, and Heathers The Musical will be on the register at The Other Palace until 19 February 2023. This extension will see 24 more weeks of corn Nuts, slushies from the 7/11 and buckets of teenage angst.

Plus, for some more Big Fun, there will be a sing-along performance on the evening of Wednesday 18 January, for a singing & dress-up extravaganza!

Casting for Heathers will be announced in due course, but while class is in session, there will be two relaxed performances which will take place on Sunday 9 October 2022 and Sunday 5 February 2023.

In addition, the Theatre Royal Haymarket Masterclass Trust (Masterclass) and The Other Palace will jointly host a programme of events to support young writers in August 2022. This will include writing workshops for 16-18 year olds and a scratch night of new writing.

New Writing Month is an addition to Masterclass’ well-established programme of support for young writers, which includes year-round Script Sessions and the biennial writing competition, Pitch Your Play. All events will take place at The Other Palace, which has a formidable reputation for incubating and premiering new work, including its current productions, Heathers The Musical and Millennials.

Clare Annamalai, Programme Director at Masterclass said: “We’re so pleased to be working with The Other Palace, where the team really understand and appreciate the work we do to support young aspiring and early-career creatives. It is particularly exciting to bring some of our youngest members into this lively space, to hear and help develop their ideas.”

Paul Taylor Mills, Artistic Director at The Other Palace said: “Millennials started its life at my initiative, MTFestUK and it is brilliant to see that this platform is providing the necessary route to allow musicals to move into fully produced shows. This is one of four new shows to be launched from the festival.”

Producer Bill Kenwright said: “It was always my intention to celebrate The Other Palace as a home for new musicals when I bought it. But, right now, the question is, what do you do with a sell-out hit musical like Heathers in the meantime? There’s never a sensible time to take off any musical that is breaking box office records, playing to capacity and receiving delirious standing ovations, but right now with our industry in the situation it is in and so many shows struggling, it would be almost perverse.

We’re delighted to continue to present exciting new work in our studio, supporting the next generation of writers with the Haymarket, and will hopefully continue to fill both theatres with the vibrant audiences that are embracing the building right now.”

Produced by Bill Kenwright and Paul Taylor-Mills, the UK premiere of Heathers the Musical enjoyed two record-breaking opening seasons, launching at The Other Palace and transferring to the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2018; going on to win the WhatsOnStage award for Best New Musical 2019. Additionally last year it also embarked on its first UK Tour which ran until December 2021.

With a book, music and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe, Heathers the Musical is based on one of the greatest cult teen films of all time, and starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. The production is directed by Andy Fickman, withchoreography by Thriller Live’s Gary Lloyd, designs by David Shields, lighting by Ben Cracknell and sound by Dan Samson.  

Westerberg High’s Veronica Sawyer is just another nobody dreaming of a better day. But when she joins the beautiful and impossibly cruel Heathers, her dreams of popularity may finally come true. Mysterious teen rebel JD teaches her that it might kill to be a nobody, but it is murder being a somebody…

Masterclass Young Writers

Masterclass Young Writers is an opportunity for 16-18 year olds to explore writing for stage. They will work with writer and Children’s Poet Laureate of Wales, Connor Allen, to create a monologue/poem from scratch, collaborate with actors from the Masterclass community and take away a professional audio recording of their work!

Connor’s recent autobiographical drama for Radio Four, The Making of a Monster,can be found on BBC Sounds. The stage production will premiere this November at Wales Millenium Centre.

2022-23 Season featuring world premieres,
home-grown talent and the best of the
North East

Multi-award winning Alphabetti Theatre is a bastion of North Eastern excellence. This artist-led performance space in Newcastle upon Tyne is a space to experiment, evolve and discover talent. Producing and playing host to some of the best and newest work from the region and further afield, their newly-announced 2022/23 is no exception.

The season will open on 23rd August with the world premiere of Brotherhood, running until 10th September. Alphabetti Theatre was born of the need for a fringe venue in Newcastle and the North East and ensuring the development of the performing arts in the region is at the heart of their work. Presented by Northern Roots & Vitamin Noir feat. Kay Greyson, Brotherhood highlights the unknown struggles of young Black men living in the UK. Vitamin Noir are a group of dancers, rappers, artists and photographers living in Newcastle upon Tyne; here, an all-Black cast of multi-talented long-time friends will share their origin stories of perseverance through dance and music. This unique tale of family and love is told with infectious joy.

20th September – 8 th October will see Alan Harris’ Sugar Baby make its North East premiere. First performed at Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017, The Times praised Sugar Baby as a theatrical tour de force and The Stage called it stonking good fun. This charming comedy caper centres on Marc, small-time drug dealer in Cardiff, who spends his time avoiding his mum, disguising his cannabis plants with fake tomatoes, and saving his old man from the local loan shark. When he gets caught up in a love triangle, things get even messier.

The third show of the season, Out-Out! is a development of Joana Geronimo’s recent work as part of Alphabetti Theatre’s Reaction Artist programme. From 18th October – 5th November, audiences can experience the premiere of this debut work. Joanna lives in two worlds, one old and one new, and sometimes it’s hard to tell which is more real. Just for tonight, her phone’s going down, her hands are going up, and she’d like to share it, irl. Joyful, bright and lyrical, Out-Out! brings people together in a moment of connection, and reminds us all that some things can’t be downloaded.

From 15th November – 3 rd December, Alphabetti Theatre and SoreSlap Theatre will present a world premiere of More Blacks, More Dogs, More Irish by Papi Jeovani and Rhian Jade. SoreSlap aims to empower its audience and create a safe space where they can enjoy theatre that makes them stop, laugh, and think. In the not-too-distant future, worlds collide when two people are forced to share a space. Only when they are given no other option, do they find that their lives are more similar than they could have ever imagined. SoreSlap Theatre are creators, producers and performers who use drama, poetry, and physical theatre to explore topics of identity and personal politics.

Over the festive season, Alphabetti Theatre & Hotspur Primary will proudly present Song Of The Goblins from 13th December – 31st December. This imaginative premise asks “who lives in those little green metal boxes at the end of the street?” They’re everywhere. You must have seen them. If you sit next to them for long enough, you can hear voices and sometimes singing… Song Of The Goblins has been co-created by an award-winning professional creative team and pupils from Hotspur Primary School. The pupils have co-written the script, co-composed the music, codesigned and co-built the set. This fantastical family adventure from Alphabetti’s award-winning artistic director, Ali Pritchard, will feature live music and composition by Wilf Stone.

2023 will begin with Tiny Fragments of Beautiful Light by Allison Davies from 31st January – 18th February. Directed by Karen Traynor, Tiny Fragments of Beautiful Light is an immersive, interactive exploration of one woman’s journey of self-discovery. Elsa’s life has never been boring, though it’s often been a struggle. She’s quirky and kind and clever and funny, but school was always a nightmare, and romance was a mystery; until now. Elsa meets Carmen who just seems to ‘get her’. She seems to hold the key to who she is, and why it feels like there’s an octopus living inside her head. Tiny Fragments of Beautiful Light is a celebration of the joy and freedom that comes when we live as we truly are.

Finally, from 28th February – 18th March, Forest Sounds Theatre & Alphabetti Theatre will present a world premiere of Person Spec. Prepare to meet the next energised and highly motivated job candidate, applying for an exciting new work opportunity. But this is not a normal theatre show, this is a job interview. And the audience is the panel. This bizarre, hilarious show encourages its audience to maximally evolve, self-disrupt, and autoconference at this unique event. The candidate has worked hard to reach the final stage of the interview process, and it’s time for you to help them succeed… or not.

This vast and varied slate makes up just some of the 270 performances that will take place at Alphabetti over the next eight months. With drama, music, comedy, workshops and more – there’s something for everybody!

THE MIRROR CRACK’D

UK TOUR OPENS 8 SEPTEMBER 2022

Original Theatre are delighted to announce the full cast of their brand new production of Rachel Wagstaff’s acclaimed adaptation of Agatha Christie’s THE MIRROR CRACK’D. The production, directed by Philip Franks, will begin its UK Tour at Devonshire Park, Eastbourne on 8 September 2022.

The final members of the cast to be announced are Oliver Boot as Chief Inspector Craddock, Lorenzo Martelli as Guiseppe Renzo, Chrystine Symone as Lola Brewster and Holly Smith in the ensemble.

They join the previously announced Susie Blake as Miss Marple, Sophie Ward as Marina Gregg, Joe McFadden as Jason Rudd, Veronica Roberts as Dolly Bantry, Mara Allen as Cherry Baker, Sarah Lawrie as Ella Zielinsky, Jules Melvin as Heather Leigh and David Partridge as Cyril Leigh.

Oliver Boot’s theatre credits include The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time for the National Theatre’s UK and International Tours, Finding Neverland, Oliver! And Piaf at Leicester Curve, Antony and Cleopatra, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Timon of Athens, King Lear and Richard II for the Globe Theatre, and an award-winning world tour of Othello for Cheek by Jowl. In 2006, Oliver was asked to perform Henry V for Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh at a private dinner party thrown by the American Embassy. On television, Oliver played regular Ben Woodman in the BBC’s Holby City.

Lorenzo Martelli’s theatre credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Almeida Festival and National Tour), Ladies’ Night (Royal Court Liverpool), Our Day Out (Chester Gateway) and The Man Who (Pleasance London). 

Chrystine Symone’s theatre credits include Megan in The Girl on the Train (Upstairs at the Gatehouse), Fay Apple in Anyone Can Whistle (Southwark Playhouse) and Lamplighter/Understudy Gloria in The Magician’s Elephant (RSC).

Holly Smith’s theatre credits include National Mourning (Theatre503), Shadowlands (UK Tour), Flare Path (UK Tour), The Hothouse (Trafalgar Theatre, London), Blithe Spirit (UK Tour) and Barchester Chronicles (Chichester Festival Theatre).

In 1960s England, a wind of change is blowing through the land. It has even reached the sleepy village of St Mary Mead. There’s a new housing estate, which alarms the villagers as much as it intrigues them and, even more unsettling, a rich American film star has bought the manor house. Jane Marple, confined to a chair after an accident, is wondering if life has passed her by. Then there is a shocking murder, and Miss Marple must unravel a web of lies, danger and tragedy. This adaptation of Agatha Christie’s famous novel brings real emotional depth and psychological insight to a thrilling story of secrets, loss and revenge.

The Mirror Crack’d From Side to Side was published in the UK in 1962 and adapted as a feature film, The Mirror Crack’d, in 1980, starring Angela Lansbury as Miss Marple, Elizabeth Taylor, Kim Novak, Rock Hudson and Tony Curtis.  On television, adaptations of the novel have starred Joan Hickson as Miss Marple in 1992 and Julia McKenzie as Miss Marple in 2011.

THE MIRROR CRACK’D will be directed by Philip Franks (Barnes’ People, The Haunting of Alice Bowles, The Habit of Art, The Croft and A Cold Supper Behind Harrods) and designed by Adrian Linford, with lighting design by Emma Chapman, sound design by Max Pappenheim, casting by Ellie Collyer-Bristow CDG and movement direction by Sophia Vi.

The UK Tour will be produced by Alastair Whatley and Tom Hackney for The Original Theatre Company. The Original Theatre Company recently won a Critics’ Circle Award for their outstanding contribution to British Theatre during lockdown, through which they produced acclaimed online productions of Sebastian Faulks’s Birdsong Online, Louise Coulthard’s Watching Rosie, Torben Betts’s Apollo 13: The Dark Side of The Moon, Philip Franks’s The Haunting of Alice Bowles and Peter Barnes’s Barnes’ People.  More recently, they have produced stage and hybrid productions ranging from world premieres of Frazer Flintham’s Into The Night to Ben Brown’s The End of The Night at Park Theatre, as well as tours of The Hound of The Baskervilles, Being Mr Wickham, The System, A Splinter of Ice, The Habit of Art, Invincible and Birdsong. They recently announced their new playwriting festival ‘Originals’ in partnership with Riverside Studios, which, in early July, saw the three winning plays performed and streamed live over consecutive days.

Hope Mill Theatre’s production of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella the Musical reveals Jacob Fowler as Prince Topher

Tuesday 1^st November – Sunday 11^th December 2022

Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester is to stage the UK theatrical premiere of the Broadway musical version of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Jacob Fowler will play Prince Topher opposite the recently announced Grace Mouat, who plays Ella.

Jacob is most prominently known for winning the BBC One prime-time show Little Mix: The Search and subsequently going on to support Little Mix on their final UK arena tour, including three nights at the legendary O2 Arena. He also appeared in the role of J.D. in Heathers The Musical at The Other Palace.

Leading the creative team for this new production are venue founders Joseph Houston and William Whelton, with Houston directing and Whelton co-directing and choreographing.

Jacob Fowler said: “I’m honoured to be a part of the European premiere of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella! It has been a dream of mine to sing a Rodgers & Hammerstein score, so to do so, opposite Grace and at the Hope Mill, is a privilege.”

The smart and beautiful young Ella lives in the care of her wicked, self-absorbed stepmother Madame and her two stepsisters Charlotte and Gabrielle. In another part of the kingdom, Prince Topher is trying to find himself and learn his place in the world. When his scheming advisor Sebastian suggests throwing a ball so the Prince can meet potential brides, Ella and Topher’s different worlds come together. Expect the unexpected in this clever retelling of the beloved fairy tale.

Cinderella is the only musical written for the television by legendary duo Rodgers & Hammerstein (South Pacific, Carousel, The Sound of Music). Originally broadcast live in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, the broadcast was watched by more than 100 million people, before subsequently being remade for TV again in 1965 and 1997 (starring Whitney Houston and Brandy).

A new Broadway version with a Tony-nominated book by Douglas Carter Beane premiered in 2013 featuring several fresh characters and songs. This will be the first time a fully staged version of the show has been performed in the UK (following a 2019 one-night concert version in London).

The musical’s previously postponed 2020 run will be staged this Autumn at Hope Mill Theatre, from  Tuesday 1^st November until Sunday 11^th December with a press night on Sunday 6^th November.

David Ian for Crossroads Live UK and Jonathan Church Theatre Productions present the Curve and Sadler’s Wells production of the musical 42^nd STREET, opening at Curve, Leicester on Wednesday 17 May 2023, where it will play until Saturday 3June 2023, followed by a season at Sadler’s Wells from Wednesday 7 June 2023 to Sunday 2July 2023 ahead of a UK tour with touring dates to be announced soon.

This new production will be directed by Jonathan Church (Singin’ in the Rain, The Drifters Girl) with choreography and design by Olivier Award winners Bill Deamer and Rob Jones. Casting and full creative team will be announced in due course.

This iconic song-and-dance spectacular features a hit parade of toe-tapping songs, including the title number, “We’re In The Money”, “Lullaby of Broadway”, “Shuffle Off To Buffalo” and “I Only Have Eyes For You”. 42^nd STREET is a timeless and inspiring showbiz fairy tale that combines breath-taking tap dance routines, backstage intrigue, classic romance and delightful comedy to dazzling effect.

Fresh off the bus from small-town America, young and beautiful Peggy Sawyer arrives in New York City dreaming of her name in lights. She quickly catches the eye of a big-time director and lands a spot in the chorus line of Broadway’s newest show…and when the leading lady gets injured, Peggy gets her shot at stardom.

42^nd STREET is a larger-than-life, massively entertaining celebration of musicals and the irrepressible spirit of Broadway that’s guaranteed to lift anyone’s spirits. 

42^nd STREET has music by Harry Warren, lyrics by Al Dubin, and book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, based on the novel by Bradford Ropes. Original direction and dances were by Gower Champion. The show was originally produced on Broadway by David Merrick.

The use of all songs is by arrangement with Warner Bros. and EMI Publishing Ltd.

Casting has been announced for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s West End production of Matilda The Musical which is now in its 10th year and continues to play to packed houses at the Cambridge Theatre.

We are delighted to announce that Victoria Alsina, Laurel Sumberg and Heidi Williams will join Maisie Mardle in the title role of Matilda, with their first performances from 13 September. 

The role of Miss Honey will be played by Lauren Byrne and Rakesh Boury and Amy Ellen Richardson will join the company to play Mr and Mrs Wormwood. Current cast members Elliot Harper will continue as Miss Trunchbull and Landi Oshinowo will continue in the role of Mrs Phelps.

Felipe Bejarano, Angeline Bell, Oliver Bingham, Thea Bunting, Michael Gardiner, Aaron Jenkins, Sam Lathwood, Dianté Lodge, Kira McPherson, Alistair So and James Wolstenholme will join the existing adult cast which includes Liberty Buckland, Kate Kenrick, Connor Lewis and Gemma Scholes.

The other young performers announced today who join the London company in the roles of Bruce, Lavender, Amanda and the rest of the pupils at Crunchem Hall are as follows: Mia Atkinson, Leo Babet, Florence Burt, Poppy Caton, Zuri-Michel Charalambou, Brodie Edwards, Jude Farrant, Riotafari Gardner, Finley Hartlett, Lily Hanna, Tia Isaac, Miley Kayongo, Shayla McCormack, Isabelle Mullallay, Jasmine Nyenya, Raphaella Philbert, Jack Philpott, Riley Plummer, Jasmine Pottinger-Scott, Ashton Robertson, Leon Saunders, Andrei Shen-U Shen, Noah Swer-Fox and Lucia Wratten.  Kylan Denis will continue as one of the actors who share the role of Bruce.

Celebrating 10 years since the multi award-winning production opened in London, this iconic British musical has won 99 international awards including 24 for Best Musical and has been seen by 11 million people across more than 90 cities worldwide. A tonic for audiences of all ages, this anarchic production about a strong and determined heroine with a vivid imagination is now booking through to 28 May 2023. Netflix will release the film in the rest of the world on 25 December 2022.
