NATALIE INSIDE OUT at the Ustinov Studio

Ustinov Studio hosts unique fusion of circus skills and digital art

NATALIE INSIDE OUT: Ustinov Studio, Tuesday 14 & Wednesday 15 January 2020

In the New Year, the Ustinov Studio plays host to a compelling and truly unique performance – NATALIE INSIDE OUT, a collaboration between world-class hand- balancer Natalie Reckert and digital artist Mark Morreau.

Playful, beautiful and highly skilled, NATALIE INSIDE OUT uses technology and video projection to turn conventional ideas of circus upside down and inside out, literally!

Fusing circus and interactive technologies, Natalie and Mark playfully investigate the relationship between the actual and the digitally represented body. Through a blend of live acrobatic performance, extreme close-up slow-motion video, and spoken word, they take movement on stage and transform it into projections on screen.

Natalie Reckert is a circus-maker integrating robotic movement, spoken word and hand-balancing. Since 2007 she has been using her skills to create full length shows. Following 15 years as a professional trapeze artist, Mark Morreau has become an established film-maker and photographer. They have worked together for more than ten years, drawn together by a shared desire to investigate the inner workings of the body of a circus performer. NATALIE INSIDE OUT has been developed over the last three years, in partnership with Jacksons Lane – North London’s flagship venue for contemporary circus.

NATALIE INSIDE OUT is at the Ustinov Studio on Tuesday 14 & Wednesday 15 January. Tickets are on sale now, from the Box Office on 01225 448844 or online at www.theatreroyal.org.uk
