An eight-day creative campaign raising awareness for and demanding an end to violence against women!
According to UN statistics 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime; that is more than One Billion Women!
This year Goblin Baby Theatre Co. joins One Billion Rising – the biggest mass action to end violence against women in human history – with an eight day creative campaign featuring Performances (The Vagina Monologues, Comedy, Poetry, Burlesque, The Princess Monologues & New Writing), Workshops (Drumming, Body Confidence & Photography), Talks and an Exhibition!
Creatives and campaigners involved include festival producer Tessa Hart (Artistic Director of the Bread & Roses Theatre & Goblin Baby Theatre Co.) and assistant producer Alisa James (performer, director & cabaret producer) as well as Jo King (founder of the London Academy of Burlesque), Claire Booker (internationally produced playwright and poet), Tom Morley (co-founder of Instant Teamwork & original drummer of Scritti Politti), Miss Glory Pearl (The Naked Stand Up), Alice Frick (comedian & Funny Women Finalist 2012), Sonia Sanchez Lopez (photographer & women and gender analyst), Pavan Amara (founder of My Body Back Clinic) and many more!
The OBR Festival is set to reach out to and engage people on many different levels by offering a diverse line-up of events and creative activities. It runs at The Bread & Roses Theatre in Clapham in the lead-up to the international OBR- and V-Day on February 14th. Several events take place each day and ticket prices range from Free to £15 with discounts available for multiple bookings.
