It’s such an iconic film that meant so much to me growing up and now getting to share that same excitement with my own family— makes this even more special. As a dad, it’s been amazing to revisit this story through my children’s eyes and see just how timeless it really is—the music, the energy, the message about believing in yourself—it all still resonates so strongly across generations.

Stepping into the role of Coach Bolton and leading such a first-class cast in London at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre is something I’m incredibly proud of. I can’t wait to ‘Get My Head in the Game’ and bring this story to life on stage—sharing all the energy, heart and nostalgia of High School Musical with fans old and new.”

All that is missing is Christine Daaé – the young soprano whose sensational talent enchanted the Phantom and saw him fall deeply and dangerously in love.

In a final bid to win her back, the Phantom lures Christine, her husband, and their young son Gustave to America to perform one final time. As old wounds are reopened and forgotten memories unlocked, the Phantom sets out to prove that, indeed, Love Never Dies.

This concert production comes as Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera celebrates its 40th year in London’s West End, marking four extraordinary decades at His Majesty’s Theatre. Phantom of the Opera is widely considered one of the world’s most beautiful and spectacular musicals. The musical, inspired by the animated film, based on the ancient myth.

It’s what classical civilisation would have wanted.

Ancient Greece. A time of gods, mortals… and Hercules, who isn’t quite either. But if he’s not a god, how can he possibly save the world from Hades? It’s one thing flexing those pecs, but going from zero to hero requires a different kind of strength.

Get ready for a wise-cracking, column-shaking, underworld-rocking ride of adventure, self-discovery, and love. In tunics.

Indigo Productions and Crossroads Live, in association with Curve, are delighted to announce first casting for the upcoming UK and Ireland tour of The Silence of the Lambs, ahead of the global cultural phenomenon’s world premiere play debut. The electrifying new production opens at Leicester’s Curve theatre on Saturday, 01 August 2026.

It is today revealed that British actor, singer, presenter, writer and director John Partridge, known for his long-running role as Christian Clarke in BBC 1’s EastEnders and extensive range of West End credits from CATS to Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, will don the iconic mask as the refined and sadistic Dr Hannibal Lecter.

When FBI trainee Clarice Starling is sent to interview the psychiatrist and infamous murderer Hannibal Lecter, it’s hoped his brilliant mind will help catch the sadistic new serial killer, Buffalo Bill. Another girl is missing, and time is running out. But Dr Lecter has questions of his own, and now Clarice must decide: keep a safe distance, or let Hannibal ‘The Cannibal’ into her head?

Acclaimed television writer and playwright Gina Gionfriddo (Law & Order (NBC), House of Cards (Netflix), Becky Shaw) brings Thomas Harris’s gripping literary masterpiece to the stage in a new modern adaptation directed by Curve’s Artistic Director, Nikolai FosterGionfriddo’s theatrical adaptation delves into the psychological tension of Thomas Harris’s landmark novel, drawing the audience deep into Clarice and Lecter’s intelligent, intricate, and bone-chilling game of cat-and-mouse, as the FBI scramble to catch Buffalo Bill, a serial killer still at large.

John Partridge says of his casting in the upcoming tour ‘’How often does an actor get to play a role that by simply saying the character’s name, it takes your breath away. It’s a huge honour, and I intend to savour every morsel of it!’’

Director Nikolai Foster adds: “Taking on a role like Hannibal Lecter requires real guts, tenacity and an appetite to confront the darkest depths of the human condition. Working with John on the role has been incredibly inspiring – his instincts are razor sharp – and there is no finer actor to bring to life Thomas Harris’s most chilling creation in our world premiere stage adaptation.”

At just 16, John Partridge left college to join the original UK tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS, later transferring to the West End production at the New London Theatre to star as Rum Tum Tugger. He reprised the role in the official filmed version opposite Elaine Paige and John Mills.

John’s extensive West End, touring and international theatre credits include: Everybody’s Talking About Jamie (Peacock Theatre); A Chorus Line (London Palladium); The Drowsy Chaperone (Novello Theatre); Notre-Dame de Paris (Dominion Theatre); The Fix (Donmar Warehouse), directed by Sam Mendes; Tommy (Shaftesbury Theatre); Grease (Dominion Theatre); Starlight Express (Apollo Victoria Theatre); The Hunting of the Snark (Prince Edward Theatre); Taboo 20th Anniversary Concert (London Palladium); The Witches of Eastwick in Concert (Sondheim Theatre); The Chalk Garden (Theatre Royal Windsor & Yvonne Arnaud Theatre); The Doncastrian Chalk Circle (National Theatre & CAST Doncaster); The Emcee in Cabaret (Rufus Norris production, UK tour); The View Upstairs (Soho Theatre); Rough Crossing (UK tour); The Case of the Frightened Lady (UK tour); La Cage Aux Folles (UK tour); Chicago (UK tour); The Tempest (Northcott Theatre); Miss Saigon (UK tour); Rent (European tour); Black Goes With Everything (Churchill Theatre, Bromley); Marilyn in Boy George’s Taboo (The Venue); and most recently Billy Haynes in The Code (Southwark Playhouse Elephant).

Mark Rylance to star in World Premiere of Tartuffe Remixed

WORLD PREMIERE

TARTUFFE (REMIXED)

NEW ADAPTATION OF MOLIÈRE’S COMEDY MASTERPIECE

STARRING MARK RYLANCE

Written and Directed by Darren Raymond

  • Luminary of stage and screen Mark Rylance stars in the world premiere of a brand-new adaptation of Molière’s satirical comedy this Autumn.
  • A co-production between Marylebone Theatre, Patrick Myles and David Luff in partnership with Intermission Ensemble.
  • Written and directed by Darren Raymond, recipient of Shakespeare’s Globe’s prestigious Sam Wanamaker Award 2025, playwright and Artistic Director of award-winning drama charity Intermission Youth and its graduate arm Intermission Ensemble.
  • Molière’s celebrated critique of hypocrisy is reborn in this vibrant new contemporary production. The story unfolds within an African-Caribbean family household.
  • The production also reunites Rylance and ULTZ, the Olivier Award-winning and Tony-nominated set and costume designer, who have worked on multiple productions together including Jerusalem and Much Ado About Nothing. Further creatives and full cast announcement will be made shortly.
  • The Priority List for first access to tickets and notification of On Sale date is officially Live HERE.

Marylebone Theatre, Patrick Myles and David Luff in partnership with Intermission Ensemble announce the world premiere of a brand-new production of Molière’s comedy classic starring Mark Rylance in the titular role. Written and directed by Darren Raymond, Tartuffe (Remixed), a deliciously biting comedy which brings both new humour and modern pathos to the original text, is relocated to an African-Caribbean household.

The strictly limited run this Autumn celebrates Rylance’s return to Marylebone Theatre following his 2024 sell-out performance of Venus and Adonis. In a unique creative union the acclaimed actor will share the stage with Intermission Ensemble, the graduates of Intermission Youth, the award-winning drama charity for which Rylance has long served as a trustee and advocate. This production offers a rare opportunity to see a master of the craft performing alongside the very talent his advocacy has helped champion. Full cast and creative team to be announced soon.

Patrick Myles and David Luff are the producers behind Dr Strangelove (West End) and Network (National Theatre and Broadway). Their recent production of The Price, their first co-production with the Marylebone Theatre starring Henry Goodman opened to rave reviews earlier this month.

Alexander J Gifford, AD of the Marylebone, says: “For many years, Darren has been creating amazing, “remixed” versions of Shakespeare’s plays for Intermission Youth. With Mark he has turned his hand to Molière and the result is a brilliantly funny, surprisingly poignant new play. Mark was born to play Tartuffe and I have no doubt that he will deliver another iconic stage-performance. I am tremendously excited to be partnering with Intermission Ensemble, whose professional actors have come up through the theatre company’s youth programme. The alumni are not just fantastically talented, but highly-trained and united by a spirit of family. I expect audiences to fall in love with Tartuffe (Remixed) and for it to be hailed as an outstandingly original, deeply moving version of the classic French comedy.”

Darren Raymond says: ”The production is a massive nod to the next generation. Mark will be starring alongside some of Intermission Youth’s alumni. This isn’t just a performance; it’s a tangible bridge between a stalwart of the stage and the young talent he has spent years mentoring. I am thrilled to see our company’s signature style come to life, where original verse meets the raw, rhythmic tapestry of cultural sounds that define our modern society.”

Mark Rylance says: “Since 2009 I’ve adored Darren Raymond’s productions of Shakespeare, created for his Intermission Youth theatre company. So, I’m very excited to work with him directing Intermission Ensemble, a professional company, remixing Moliere’s satirical masterpiece.

“Darren’s genius for language and humour guarantees this will be a Tartuffe like no other. Our early rehearsals have been hilarious. The mix of a corrupt English missionary in a contemporary African Caribbean family culture is bringing out the authentic cadence and revolutionary meaning of this classic play.”

SINGLE WHITE FEMALE REVIEW

PLAYHOUSE THEATRE, LIVERPOOL UNTIL – SATURDAY 2ND MAY 2026

REVIEWED BY MIA BOWEN

4****

I arrived at the Playhouse on a packed-out Tuesday evening, with only a vague understanding of the story. Having never read the novel by John Lutz, I could only reminisce about the impact of its iconic 90s psychological thriller adaptation showing in cinemas. This feeling of unease lingered and was swiftly reignited by the gripping stage version.

Adapted for the stage by Rebecca Reid and brilliantly directed by Gordon Greenberg, this production offers a sharp, contemporary take on a chilling classic. What once shocked cinema audiences decades ago continues to resonate profoundly even in our current world, dominated by smartphones and constant connectivity.

The play skillfully modernises the story’s themes while maintaining its fundamental tension. It highlights that although technology and society have advanced, human behaviour—especially at its most sinister—remains unchanged. The feelings of manipulation, control, and psychological threat are just as current and disquieting today as they were in the past.

What makes this adaptation particularly effective is its capacity to harness a timeless fear: that beneath seemingly ordinary surfaces, something profoundly disturbed may be concealed. The outcome is a gripping, suspenseful production that keeps the audience on tenterhooks, demonstrating that some stories not only retain their potency over time but also acquire fresh relevance.

The true strength of this stage adaptation is its captivating cast, featuring a trio of well-known television stars who exceed expectations. Kym Marsh delivers a powerful performance as Hedy, skillfully combining vulnerability with a growing sense of unease. In contrast, Lisa Faulkner excels as Allie, infusing the character with warmth, relatability, and a quiet resilience. Jonny McGarrity delivers a confident portrayal of Sam, Allie’s ex-husband, exuding charm and credibility while enhancing the unfolding drama. The supporting cast significantly enhances the production as well: Andro shines as Graham, Allie’s devoted best friend, infusing warmth and humour, while Amy Snudden captivates as Bella, Allie’s daughter, showcasing an authentic and natural performance.

The ensemble works wonderfully together, creating a convincing and exciting atmosphere. Their connection shines as they explore the play’s emotional depth, making this performance both captivating and truly unforgettable.

RON – A BOLD, GENRE-DEFYING SOLO SHOW AT RIVERSIDE STUDIOS 13 JUNE – 5 JULY – FIRST RIVERSIDE STUDIOS CO-PRODUCTION IN ITS 50th ANNIVERSARY YEAR

RIVERSIDE STUDIOS AND TED WALLIKER PRESENT

RON – A BOLD AND GENRE-DEFYING SOLO SHOW

RIVERSIDE STUDIOS, STUDIO 2

13 JUNE – 5 JULY

TICKETS AND FURTHER INFORMATION AVAILABLE HERE

Riverside Studios today announces the world premiere of RON, a bold and genre-defying new solo show written and performed by Ted Walliker, running in Studio 2 at the Hammersmith venue from Saturday 13 June to Sunday 5 July, with press night on Tuesday 16 June.

RON marks the first in-house co-production from Riverside Studios, signalling a new chapter in the organisation’s producing work, as it celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026.

Tony Foot presents his latest stand-up show about life, love and friendship. Or – at least – he tries to… Tony seems to have something else on his mind. What starts in McDonald’s stays in McDonald’s, except in this story where it doesn’t.

Sometimes you’re just the Ron person in the Ron place at the Ron time…

RON is an absurd, violent, genre-bending queer odyssey exploring the nature of unrequited love; how far would you go to show someone you love them?

Blending razor-sharp comedy with hair-raising tonal shifts, RON pushes at the boundaries of storytelling, performance and genre. At its centre is a magnetic, unpredictable performance from Walliker, whose writing moves between the hilarious, the unsettling and the unexpectedly tender.

RON is written and performed by Walliker, who co-directs with Lev Govorovski. Together they also design the show’s set and costumes, with Walliker leading on lighting, sound design and original music – shaping a distinctive and singular theatrical world.

RON was first performed at Riverside Studios in March this year in a three-night run which sold out completely, with audiences describing it as ‘totally phenomenal’ and ‘something I’ve never seen before’, and ‘mad balletic comedy genius.

Early responses to the work were electric. BAFTA-winning writer Dean Atta calls it “a totally fresh take on queer longing,” while Olivier Award nominee Emmanuel Akwafo describes Walliker as “the kind of performer who reminds you why theatre can feel electric when it’s done right.” TV producer and comedian Jonathan Stadlen praises its “swashbucklingly brilliant, Tarantino-esque dialogue,” and actor-writer-director Ché Walker describes it as “beautiful, sinuous writing… very funny and moving.”

Rhys Williamson, Head of Programming said, “RON is exactly the kind of work we want to be making at Riverside Studios – bold, surprising and formally ambitious, with a distinctive voice at its centre. Ted has created something that feels genuinely unlike anything else, and we’re incredibly excited for this to be our first in-house co-production as we begin to build a new strand of producing work here.”

Ted Walliker said, “I wanted to make something that starts in a very familiar place and then gradually slips out of control. RON is about love, and the strange, sometimes destructive ways we try to express it – but it’s also about performance, storytelling, and how far you can push both before they break. I’m really excited to be bringing it to Riverside Studios for this run.”

RON is produced by Riverside Studios Productions and Ted Walliker.

Ted Walliker trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (’23). In 2025, Ted was nominated for ‘Best Supporting Actor in a New Production of a Play’ by BroadwayWorld UK / West End Awards for his role in Diagnosis at the Finborough Theatre. His short film Quicksand which he co-wrote and executive produced premiered at BAFTA-qualifying Flicker’s Festival in Rhode Island, 2025. Theatre includes: Diagnosis (Finborough Theatre), Solitary Things and Phone (Courtyard Theatre), Near To (Camden People’s Theatre), Pimms & Piety (Etcetera Theatre), and award-winning Dot Dot Dot Dash (Two Ladders Productions).

Lev Govorovski trained at ALRA (Rose Bruford). Lev was most recently Associate Director for the transfer of Burnt Up Love, one of the Observer’s top 10 plays of 2024. Theatre includes: Debris (Theatre Peckham/Brixton House), Burnt Up Love (Theatro Technis/Finbrough Theatre), Midsummer Madness (Ravenna Shakespeare Festival), 384 Days (Pleasance Theatre), Diagnosis (Finbrough Theatre)
