On a glorious day in September, we visited Darlington Hippodrome to see the launch of this year’s pantomime – Goldilocks and the Three Bears
For Taziva-Faye Katsande (Goldilocks) this was her first trip to Darlington. Josh Benson (Joey the Clown) and Jamie Jones (Dame Betty Barnum) have appeared in the pantomime in Darlington before, with this one being their third here together. Dancing legend Brendan Cole (Baron von Bolshoi) has played Darlington many times as a dancer, but the first time in pantomime here.
Don’t be surprised to find the cast exploring Darlington during their stay. They all have plans to explore the local area and the regional Christmas markets. Jamie also has plans to catch as many of the local pantomimes as he can. Although all 5 say they will be getting plenty of sleep on their day off
With the exception of Brendan, who has played the role before, none of the others know exactly what this year has in store. Although Josh gets to be his natural magical self and Jamie is getting to wear some world class Dame dresses. But all agree it will be full of fun and magic and all the pantomime staples we have come to know and love.
