CHLOE PETTS – IF YOU CAN’T SAY ANYTHING NICE REVIEW

Chloe Petts doesn’t really need this glowing review from me as it looks like her entire Fringe run is pretty much already sold out – and rightly so: this is a joyous hour in the company of a young woman who gives an excellent impression of someone who is gloriously just being her (very funny) self.

Her schtick is that she has previously been known as nice and polite, but now has recognised she is angry and is working through this, and although she is absolutely right to say that there is so much to be angry about in the world, she really just comes across as wonderfully forthright.

The combination of football and lesbian jokes collide surprisingly perfectly and her interaction with the audience has a wonderfully mischievous edge. The routine with Brian from the front row was pitch perfect and had the teenager who was with me in stitches. As a tall woman myself I very much appreciated all of her hilarious references to being a woman of height.

There are sometimes tickets available on the door for sold out Fringe shows – if you can get hold of one for Chloe Petts’ show, you won’t regret it.
