Should we be constantly under surveillance in order to protect us from terrorism?
In 2013 Edward Snowden informed the world that Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and other internet providers were routinely handing over the records
of their customers to the Security services. He also revealed that GCHQ in Britain had placed taps on fibre optic cables that transit
the Atlantic. Still in his mid-twenties, living in Hawaii on a salary of over $100k, he made a decision to steal Top Secret documents to
expose the NSA’s system of mass surveillance.
Whistleblower – the story of Edward Snowden looks not only at the events that led to his decision but also
examines the substance of what he revealed to the world. In exposing the secret operations of the NSA and GCHQ he initiated a discussion as
to whether or not giving Government security services access to our private lives makes the world a safer place.
