Doctor Doolittle Heading for Hull Stage as part of Anniversary Celebrations

Leslie Bricusse’s family musical gets a new lease of life for film’s 50th anniversary.

Fifty years after Leslie Bricusse’s eccentric Doctor Doolittle became a household name, ‘Our Friend the Doctor’ takes to the stage once more in a new stage adaptation of the beloved film which comes to Hull New Theatre early next year.

Doctor Dolittle tells the story of an unconventional man who can ‘Talk to the Animals’ as he embarks on an extraordinary adventure to find the Giant Pink Sea Snail that holds the secret of life and makes the world a happier place, helped by his human companions and an exotic menagerie of animal friends, including the Pushmi-Pullyu and trusty sidekick Polynesia the parrot.

Produced by Music & Lyrics Limited, the force behind the highly successful recent tours of The Addams Family, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Oklahoma!, Fiddler on the Roof and The King and I, in association with Churchill Theatre Bromley, this new adaptation of the hit musical features stunning visual puppetry, with the book reworked by Leslie Bricusse.
